Jo Dugstad Wake: Using Video Data to Study Game Players’ Interaction with a Mobile, Location-based Game for Teaching and Learning History

The game Jo Dugstad Wake at the University of Bergen is talking about is called Premierløitnant Bielke, and in his presentation he focuses on the content and intentions and the technological architecture. The purpose of the game is to teach and learn the local history of Bergen during the Napoleonic wars, using mobile technology.

He also talks about an empirical study of the particulars of location-based gaming. The research focus: Interactional organisation of gaming activity. Uptake on available resources. It studies how the respondents use the game.
